The Forsyth City Library was organized in August 1922 with the aid of the Forsyth Woman’s Club. The name was changed to Monroe County Library, and the library was moved to the larger facilities on West Main Street on September 7, 1937.
Affiliation with the Flint River Regional Library began in 1964. In 1981 the present facility was expanded to approximately 10,000 square feet with capacity of 44,000 volumes.
