New Monroe County Commission Chairman Alan Gibbs was officially sworn into office at the beginning of the Board of Commissioners’ first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Monroe County Probate Judge Donna Robins administered the oath of office while wife Nikki Gibbs held the Bible during the ceremony.
Gibbs was accompanied at the ceremony by wife Nikki, sons James and Steven, and daughter Chloe. A number of Gibbs’ other family members, including his parents, Jimmy and Donna Gibbs, watched from the audience.
At the conclusion of the brief swearing-in ceremony, Gibbs stepped immediately into the chairman position and conducted Tuesday’s meeting.
