Monroe County Leaders Celebrate “2025 Monroe County Day at the State Capitol” on Feb. 6

Georgia Sen. John Kennedy, who represents District 18 which includes Monroe County, read aloud on the Georgia Senate floor on Thursday, Feb. 6 a proclamation honoring the 2025 Monroe County Day at the State Capitol.

Burt Jones (back row) then took a photo with Monroe County leaders pictured from left to right: Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson, Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Kerri Swearingen, Monroe County Board of Education Chairman Greg Head, Monroe County Chamber of Commerce Director Melissa Lee, Monroe County Board of Commissioners Chairman Alan Gibbs, and Development Authority of Monroe County President Joyce White.

Monroe County visitors to the Capitol were also recognized by Reps. Clint Crowe, Robert Dickey, Tangie Herring, and Dale Washburn during the House session on Thursday.

Thank you to Sen. Kennedy, Reps. Crowe, Dickey, Herring, and Washburn, and Mercer University VP of External Relations Hugh Sosebee for hosting the group of about 40 Monroe Countians, which included the 2025 Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Monroe class as well as Monroe County Commissioners: Lamarcus Davis, Gibbs, Eddie Rowland, and Al Turner. A Chick-Fil-A boxed lunch was also provided for the group courtesy of Sosebee, who is also a Monroe County Magistrate Judge.
