Monroe County Commission Chairman Greg Tapley, District 1 Commissioner Lamarcus Davis and District 2 Commissioner Eddie Rowland accepted on behalf of Monroe County on Saturday, April 27 the 2024 Georgia County Excellence Award for the county’s creation and support of the “Monroe Champions” all-abilities baseball league.
The County Excellence Award, which is given by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) in conjunction with Georgia Trend magazine, was presented at today’s ACCG Board Installation Luncheon in Savannah.
A feature story on the Monroe Champions league, which opened its second season on April 20, will appear in the upcoming June edition of Georgia Trend. A special thanks is due to the league’s founder and director, Keith Edge, and Monroe County recreation director Landon Sparks for their continued hard work to ensure Monroe Champions’ current and future success.
