The public is invited to attend an educational meeting regarding Monroe County’s 2024 health insurance at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Board of Commissioners meeting room on the third floor of the county administration building at 38 West Main Street.
Monroe County’s health insurance broker, Johnathan Shaw, District 2 Commissioner Eddie Rowland, Monroe County Clerk/Human Resources Director Janet Abbott, and Monroe County’s wellness coach, Allison Young, will be present to lead the Nov. 16 educational meeting.
The Nov. 16 meeting will be the first of five educational meeting offerings for county employees regarding 2024 health insurance. Additional meetings will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Board of Commissioners meeting room, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20 at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20 at the Board of Commissioners meeting room.
Monroe County has retained a reference-based pricing plan for its 2024 health insurance coverage but has changed plan administrators from Edison Health to Trust Mark/Luminier Benefits. However, Monroe County will continue to use ClaimDoc as its member advocate. Meanwhile, the county’s online pharmacy benefits will change from EdisonRx to Rightway, and members will also have the option to convert to the WellDyne mail order pharmacy program.
Monroe County’s comprehensive health insurance package includes: health and prescription coverage; dental and vision; basic, voluntary and universal life insurance; short term disability; Aflac (cancer, critical illness, and accident), and Brella (supplemental health insurance).
Open enrollment for county employees will take place the week after Thanksgiving from Wednesday, Nov. 29 through Friday, Dec. 1.
