Monroe County will host the annual July 4th fireworks celebration at the Monroe County Recreation Department on Friday, July 3.
The fireworks will be fired off shortly after dark at around 9 p.m., and concessions will be available beforehand for persons who want to come early and enjoy a night at the rec park. Statewide social distancing guidelines in place at the time of the event could be in effect.
The City of Forsyth has held the annual Independence Day event since 2009, but city council members decided last month not to host it this year due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus. After learning the festivities had been cancelled, Monroe County Commissioners decided last week that the county should sponsor this year’s event.
The fireworks will be provided by J&M Displays, Inc., the same company with whom the City typically contracts.
